Interbank Payment Card System

The Interbank Payment Card System is designed to process interbank transactions made using payment cards in Kazakhstan.

The Interbank Payment Card System will ensure the security and uninterrupted functioning of the payment card market, and a guarantee of internal settlements for Kazakhstani banks.

The system was developed in close cooperation with the international payment systems Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay (hereinafter referred to as the IPS) and banks participating in the payment card market.

As part of the creation of the IPS, a local card infrastructure was built and the corresponding regulatory framework was formed. Agreements were also concluded with the IPS on organizing the processing of local transactions on payment cards issued by Kazakhstani banks.

Currently, banks providing services for accepting payments using payment cards are connected to the IPS. The necessary work has been carried out to transfer the traffic of local card transactions of banks, including the adaptation of bank systems and reconfiguration of interaction processes with international payment systems.
